4G has created a booming market for smartphones.  But in the future, if new technologies are to arrive, such as autonomous cars, IoT, and AI, 5G will play an important role in connecting all things.  Due to great advancement in transmission speed, the dream of instant connections of all things can come true.  Beneficiaries of this 5G trend include many parties, including base stations, servers, and their components, semiconductor, optical communication modules, etc.

5G has brought a vast amount of demands for optical communication chips and modules. Wah Lee has stepped into the sales of optical transmission and reception components and high end modules.  The company has sent samples for spec in at major Taiwanese server manufacturers and expects to see future sales contribution.  It has also invested in an optical component manufacturer and formally enters the manufacturing area of optical communication components.  It will raise the company’s prowess in the advanced product market.

High end optical communication chips and modules have very high requirements in materials and craftsmanship.  Taiwan still enjoys an advantageous status in the R&D.  Wah Lee will best utilize this opportunity to build a stronghold in Taiwan and continue to expand into China market.  It will keep establishing a comprehensive product portfolio, exploring more new application areas, and actively grabbing the business opportunities in the 5G arena.
