Wah Lee Industrial Corp. (3010.TT) announced October 2018 unaudited consolidated sales of NT$4,802M, a 29.3% growth from the same period last year.  Cumulative 2018 Jan.-Oct. consolidated sales was NT$44,169M and increased by 27.2%, compared to the same period last year.  Due to strong growth momentum from high-end engineering plastics, FPD, and PCB industry, October sales has been in the high levels.

According to market survey, the global PCB market will grow at a CAGR of 4.05% to reach NT$2 trillion in 2022.  It will reach US$61.1 billion in this year.  Taiwanese and Japanese PCB makers focus on the high-end PCB market; Chinese makers penetrate the market with competitive pricing; while Korean makers focus on their domestic demands.  Taiwan is leading with 31.3% market share and will benefit from the future 5G demands and automobile markets in the mid to long term.

Wah Lee’s high end dry film, which is used in PCB process imaging transfer, has been stably supplying the market due to well Taiwanese-American relationship and has been catered to an American brand-name tablet and smartphone maker.  Dry film has grown in double digits in the greater China area in this year.

In the high-end PCB application markets such as smartphones, servers, and wearables, Wah Lee’s rigid-flex sheets and high-frequency application sheets have been gaining market shares.  Their next target markets were set at automobile radar and 5G markets.  5G will enable the auto electronics to pave way for auto-pilot and car-link web.  It is estimated that the PCB for automobiles will expand rapidly after 2020 and Wah Lee had prepared itself well for this market.

The new 5G data storage and high-end computing will need critical packaging substrates and fine pitch has become the mainstream technology.  Wah Lee’s high resolution dry film is the key component for this manufacturing process.  It has been tested in the next generation CPU and GPU substrates, wireless ear pods, and 5G servers, etc.  Wah Lee will reap fruitful results as these new technologies gradually come to dominance.
